Pakistani Cultural Dresses

Pakistan’s national dress is shalwar kameez. It is worn by men and women in all five provinces Punjab, Sindh, Balochistan, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Gilgit Baltistan in the country. People from each province wear shalwar kameez in its styles like Sindhi shalwar kameez, Punjabi shalwar kameez, Pashtun shalwar kameez, and Balochi shalwar kameez. Pakistani wear dresses ranging from elegant colors and designs to various types of fabric such as silk, lawn, chiffon, cotton, etc.

Men Clothing

Pakistani men wear shalwar kameez, kurta, Pakistani waistcoat, achkan and sherwani, churidar or pajama. Jama and the angarkha also include in men’s clothing. Headgear includes Karakul, known as the Jinnah cap.

Other caps include fez also called Rumi topi and taqiya. Men and boys are wearing popular footwear at the wedding ceremony, Peshawari chappal, and khussa. Shawls are also one of the traditional dresses. It is made of Pashima or other warm materials. It is mostly worn in the northern regions of the country. Also worn in other parts of Pakistan who face low temperatures during the season. Now shawls are also worn in wedding ceremonies if they are in the winter season. It’s become popular nowadays.

Women Clothing

Women wear shalwar kameez in different styles, colors, and designs. It can be decorated with different styles and designs of embroidery. The kameez varies in sleeve length, shirt length, and necklines. The drawers have different types like straight-cut shalwar, Patiala shalwar, churidar, cigarette pajama, tulip trouser or simple trouser.

The essential part of women’s clothing is Dupatta. It is considered a symbol of a woman’s respect. Now it is often treated as an accessory in current urban fashion. Most young girls in urban areas don’t carry it at all. Or most of the women wear it just as a decorative accessory. Dupatta is used with different embroidery designs of kamdani and gota.

In addition to the shalwar kameez, Pakistani women have a variety of traditional dresses. But they are mostly worn on special occasions such as wedding functions, like mayun, mehndi, engagement, and other traditional ceremonies.

The most popular dresses include ghagra choli and sari. It is every design and color that seem distinctive from other dress items e.g. lehenga style sari. The lehenga resembles to skirt but its traditional dress. It’s also another popular dress. On ceremonial occasions, sharara and gharara are worn both are two similar dress. Farshi pajama is also worn occasionally. It’s also included in traditional dress. Laacha is mostly worn by Pakistani in Punjab. The lower part of laacha resembles the dhoti.

Pakistani Fashion

Pakistani fashion thrives well in the fashion world. This time, Pakistani clothes are a combination of traditional and modern dresses. As a result, it has become the cultural identification of Pakistan. When Pakistan enters into fashion world it since has been historically evolved from different phases and made its unique identity.

The regional and traditional dresses have evolved from their significance as a symbol of native tradition. Despite all modern trends. this regional fashion evolving into more modern and pure forms.
